For CX Day, a moment to celebrate customers and the people who make their experiences better.
How does your customer experience your brand when it matters? They want to complete a task, solve a problem, or make a decision. They probably don’t know how your organisation is structured, and nor should they need to.
What your customer experiences is whether their expectations are met, in the big and the small moments. Whether someone understands their situation. Whether the next step is clear. Whether the promise made to them matches what happens. And the less familiar a journey is, the more every single action and interaction matters.
From inside an organisation, it can be easy to forget that human need, the lack of familiarity, the uncertainty, and the emotion. A question passes between teams. A customer explains their situation again. A small difficulty becomes the thing they remember. Equally, a thoughtful response or a problem resolved without fuss, can stay with someone long after the interaction ends.
Our recent research for CCMA on Irish consumers’ views of customer service is a reminder of why it matters to keep listening to the people who use our services, rather than relying only on how we intend those services to work.
Listening is the beginning, not the achievement itself. The real value is in noticing what customers find difficult, understanding why, and doing something with those learnings. That can mean rethinking a journey, making one step clearer or giving a colleague what they need to put things right.
CX Day is an opportunity to celebrate that work. We are thinking of the customers who share their experiences, and the people across organisations who listen, ask better questions, and keep improving what happens next.
It is a conversation we will continue with CCMA at our planned November workshop on CX maturity and customer centricity. Further details will follow when bookings open.
For today, the most useful question is a simple one: What have our customers helped us see more clearly, and what has changed because of it?
